Automatic kitchen capacity management
Learn how to automatically control how many orders your kitchen accepts in each time slot, so you can avoid overload and show customers more realistic times.
With automatic kitchen capacity management, you can set a limit for how many orders your kitchen can handle within a time slot.
When the limit is reached, that time slot is automatically closed for new orders. This helps you avoid too many orders at once and gives your customers more realistic pickup and delivery times.
What can the feature be used for?
The feature helps you:
-
avoid overloading the kitchen during busy periods
-
show customers times that match your actual capacity
-
keep better control of both pickup and delivery
-
create more stable operations and a better customer experience
Before you start
For the feature to work, time slots must be enabled for your restaurant.
How to set it up
-
Go to the settings
-
Log in to the WO Admin Panel.
-
Go to Settings → Restaurant settings
-
Find the section Automatic kitchen capacity management
-
-
Enable the feature
-
Click Enable.
-
-
Choose how capacity should be measured
-
You can choose between:
-
Number of orders and Total order value
-
If you choose total order value, the amount is entered in your local currency, for example DKK or NOK.
-
-
-
Enter your limit
-
Enter the desired limit in the field.
-
-
Choose whether the limit should be the same every day or different
-
You can choose between:
-
Same limit every day – Enter a value in Total Limit.
-
Different limits per day – Enable Set a limit for each day and enter the capacity for each weekday.
-
This can be relevant if you are busier on weekends than on weekdays.
-
-
-
-
Set a separate delivery limit, if needed
-
If you offer delivery, you can also set a specific Delivery Limit.
-
This is useful if your drivers become fully booked before the kitchen reaches its limit. That way, delivery can be closed while pickup remains open.

Click Save in the bottom right corner.

How it works in practice
When the number or value of orders in a time slot reaches your limit, that time slot is automatically closed for new orders.
Customers will therefore only see the time slots that are still available.
Important to know about value-based limits
If you use total order value, the system only closes the time slot once an order pushes the total above the limit.
Example: If your limit is DKK 500 and there are already orders worth DKK 450, a new order worth DKK 100 can still go through.
This means the total becomes DKK 550. After that, the time slot is automatically closed for the next customers.
Frequently asked questions
How do I enable the feature?
Go to Restaurant settings, find Automatic kitchen capacity management, enable the feature and set your limits.
Remember that time slots must be enabled for the feature to work.
Can I have different limits for pickup and delivery?
Yes. You can set a separate delivery limit, so delivery closes before pickup if needed.
What is best to choose: number of orders or value?
It depends on your operations.
Number of orders is often best if your orders are usually similar.
Total order value can be better if some orders are significantly larger than others.
