Nexi N950 – SmartPOS Terminal Guide

Get started with the Nexi N950 – your new SmartPOS terminal from NETS and Shopbox.

In partnership with NETS, we offer the Android-based SmartPOS terminal, Nexi N950. It features a touchscreen, built-in thermal printer, 4G/Wi-Fi connectivity, and barcode scanning using the device camera.

The N950 is manufactured by Newland NPT

Device specifications

  • Model: Nexi N950

  • Operating System: Android / Poynt

  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi and GSM (4G)

  • Power Supply: USB-C / Cradle

  • Printer: Built-in, 57 mm

Paper roll installation

  1. Lift the printer cover by pulling the back plate away from the terminal.

  2. Place the paper roll as shown in the image below.

Software installation & updates

  • Shopbox is not involved in assigning terminals to customers. This is handled solely by NETS.

  • Shopbox is automatically installed when the device is started for the first time.

  • Updates are managed by Shopbox via the GoDaddy Poynt Developer Center.

  • Please note: Shopbox cannot control POS versions on individual devices.

Configuring Shopbox on the N950

  • Set the cash register terminal type to Poynt in Partner or Nova.

  • No configuration is required within the POS.

  • Tips: Not supported at this time

  • Surcharge: Not supported at this time

 

First-time setup

When the device is powered on for the first time, the customer will be guided through four steps:

  1. Choose country

  2. Update software

  3. Activate device

  4. Create a PIN code

Once completed, Shopbox is installed and ready to be configured.

 

Navigation

The device runs Poynt OS, layered on top of Android OS.

  • To open Shopbox: Swipe left on the home screen.

Returning to the home screen from Shopbox:

  1. Swipe down from the top

  2. Tap the cogwheel icon

  3. Tap the home icon in the top-right corner

 

Restarting or shutting down

  • Hold the power button on the left side of the device.

  • Select either Shutdown or Restart on the screen.
